HIGH COMMISSIONER'S ADVICES.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 27th October, from the Highi Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—
BUTTER.
Market dull and prices are lower. Official quotations are:—New Zealand, salt: ed finest, 28th October, 188s, 190s, 192s per cwt (Is Bd, Is B|d, Is Bid per lb); unsalted, 28th October, ,206s to 208s per cwt (Is lOd to Is 10id per lbj; other qualities, salted, 28th October, 180s to 186s per cwt (Is 7id to Is 7jd per lb). Australian: Salted, finest, 28th October, 184s to 186s per cwt (Is 7{d to la 7jd per lb). Other qualities, 28th October, 150s to 180s per cwt (Is 4£d to Is 7±d per lb). Argentine: Finest, 28th October, 170s to 174s per cwt (Is 6|d to Is 6Jd per lb); exceptional, 176s per cwt (Is 6|d per lb) Other qualities: 28th October, 1463 to 166s per cwt (Is 3Jd to Is S|d per lb) Danish: 28th October, 200s to 202s per cwt (Is 9£d to Is 9»d per lb).
CHEESE.
Market remains firm for English, but Colonial very quiet. Officials quotations are.:—English: Finest farmers', 28th October, 135s to 14os per cwt (Is 2Jd to Is 3£d per lb). Canadian: Finest, 23th .October, coloured 110s per cwt (ll|d per lb), exceptional 112s per cwt (Is per lb), white 106s to 108s per cwt (ll^d to lUd per lb). Other qualities: 28th October, coloured 106s per cwt (Hid per lb), white 104s per cwt (lid per lb). New Zealand: Finest,,2Bth October, coloured 110s to 112 3 per cwt (lljd to Is per lb), white 108s per cwt (ll^d per lb). Other qualities: 28th October, coloured 108s per cwt (ll£d per lb), white 106s per cwt (ll^d per lb).
CASEIN.
Buyers are holding off in anticipation of lower prices, and quotations are nominal. French rennet, £70 to £79 per ton. Argentine lactic, £60 per ton-J
HEMP.
Manila market easier, but closed ?n y- J grade spot sold £32 to £32 10s; November-January shipments, £31 10s per ton. New Zealand market continues quiet, owing to the absence of sellers Buyers' idea for high points, £31 10s to £32s ■
WOOL.
Sales continue satisfactorily, with raw material in strong position. The confidence in is an encouraging feature. Coarse crossbred now 5 per cent, to 7J per cent.; medium crossbred <i per cent, to 10 per cent, dearer than last closing rates.
