General Harington, with, 1800 men of the Coldstream and Grenadier Guards, was stirringly welcomed on arrival from Constantinople.
General Harington, at a civic welcome at Southampton, said: "We left Turkey respected by all, after steering through many difficulties. Wo left with the English flag never higher. Tho credit for it belongs not to me but to the splendid forces under my command. I am hopeful for tho future of Turkey. I believe that the old relations we re-es-tablished, and the respect under which we left, will be helpful to British interests. lam confident that our graves' on Turkish soil will be respected."
