(ridden by H. Jones), Graculus (a lightweight), and Backwood (F. Dempsey) finished in that order over a mile on the grass, • run in lmin 51 jsec. King Ihgoda ran a mile in even time; Rivoli and Trentcourfc covered a mile in lmin 59sec. Comique did a mile in lmin 47£ sec. Unit completed half a mile on the tan in 50£ sec. Fred Power sent Prince Hugo a mile in lmin- 55sec, and Eahiri (P. Brown) ran six furlongs in lmin 21sec. Comique, on the grass, ran a mile in lmin 47jsec, and Claro did evenrtime work. Mirthmaker ran a mije and a quarter in 2min 28sec, and Hayhope a mile in lmin 47sec. . Comedy Star and Gunadorah covered a mile on the grass in lmin 495 sec. Heir Apparent did even-time work. Vitalli ran a mile in lmin 46sec. Shrapnel, Evensong, and Seccant did useful work, and Paratoo covered a mile and a quarter on the tan in 2min 17sec. Ignition and Baina ran five furlongs in lmin s£sec. At Caulfield, on the grass, David ran nine furlongs in 2min Bsec, and Beeline a mile in lmin 45sec. Start ran eleven furlongs in 2min 27sec—the best gallop of the season. The first mile was completed in lmin 44^sec. Whittier covered a mile in lmin 48£ sec, the first five furlongs in lmin Bsec. The Cypher and Sister Olive, finishing together, ran eleven furlongs in 2min 31sec. The Epicure and Baldwin covered four furlongs in 52sec. Coleus ran the best mile in lmin 44^sec. King of Mirth did a mile in lmin 46sec ; and Maid of the Mist a mile in lmin 47sec.
Wallace Mortlake has been scratched for all his Flemington engagements. The Jockey J. Toohey has arrived, and will ride David and The Epicure. Acceptors for the Caulfield Stakes include The Cypher, Whittier, Backwood, and David.
For the Moonee "Valley W. S. Cox Plate, to be run on Saturday fortnight, Eapine and Shrapnel have been nominated.
Ettefred has foaled a colt to Magpie.
