UNIFORM BANK NOTES
For several years the public have lound the varying sizes and colours of bank notes a source of confusion and annoyance. It was therefore suggested to the banks and to the Government that consideration should .be given to the adoption of a uniform size and colour for notes circulating in the Dominion. This proposal was duly considered by the Associated Banks, and as a result the size adopted will be 7 x 3iin, approximately tne same proportions as those of the £1 notes issued by the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., and the 10s notes issued by the Bank of New Zealand. lhe predominating colours of each denomination will be as follow:—10s yellow; £1, violet; £5, blue; £H)' brown; £20, green, £50, pink; £100 olive groen. The change will not, of course, take place wholly at. once, but will be effected gradually. Old notes as now used will slowly disappear, and their replacement by the newly-adopted ones will commence. Ono bank has already received a supply of £1 notes.
