UNCERTAIN WEATHER
A high pressure eystem has been stationary over New Zealand and Chatham Island for nearly a week holding off disturbances which are in evidence on the Tasman Sea. Weather conditions have remained warm and humid, with northerly winds prevailing. Northerly gales are reported this morning at Manukau Opunake, and seas are heavier on "the east coast. The change that has been threatening for several days etill holds -off, but the main indications are for unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain following. According to the forecast of the Director of the Meteorological Office, increasing northerly winds are to be expected, which are likely to back to southerly after from 24 to 36 hours. Spring, of course, is the time for changeable weather. To-day there are some indications which are positively threatening, although, on the chart itself there is little definite to rely on. It is at a time ~like this .when developments are looked for from the Tasman Sea that advice .from shipping between Australia and New Zealand would be valuabje.
