AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALES

MELBOURNE, This Day. The 1923-24 season's opening wool sale was held to-day. The offerings showed the clip to be not so well grown as that of last season. The wool is shorter in staple. Competition is good, but is less keen than was anticpated. Prices for super to good merino are at par to 5 per cent, lower; best skirtings are at par; lower grades show 5 per cent, advance; locks, 5 per cent, to 10 per cent.; and lambs, 5 per cent, advance, as compared with last sales. ?
PERTH, This "bay. There was keen competition at the Perth wool sales. Prices all round showed an advance on rates of the previous sales.
