EMPRESS THEATRE.
'Pay Day" is now being screened at the Empress Theatre, and, with the world-famous Charlie Chaplin taking the leading part, it naturally draws crowded sessions. It is one of Chaplin's most .humorous efforts. The star appears in one of his inimitable labourer roles, in which the worker looks forward to and anticipates the weekly pay day. From •each scene in; the picture the star obtains the maximum of fun at'a minimum of apparent effort. A Goldwyn photoplay_de luxe, "The Old Nest," is the sup. porting picture. The remaining films are of excellent variety, the gazettes containing many subjects of topical interest. Special music has been selected, and wiil be played by a full orchestia. The box plan is at The Bristol.
