THE SEASON OPENED FUNCTIONS AT" VARIOUS CLUBS. Weather conditions" could barely have been better for the clubs whichTopened their tennis season on Saturday afternoon. In each case the speakers referred optimistically to the prospects for I«S' Which -Prom^ to be most BBOUGHAM HILL.. . The twen£y-fifth year of its activities was commenced by Brougham Hill, when Dr.. A. K. Newman, M.L.C., declared the season, open. Kepresentatives from the association and several clubs were present. Dr. Newman said he was pleased to see the game supported by so many people. It was the best international game, while it had many advantages as a game which were not enjoyed by other games. L. France served the first ball of the season. Mr. C. G. Turner; chairman of the Management Committee of the Wellington Tennis Association, presented a jardiniere to Miss. Howe in recognition of the association's appreciation of the services rendered by her in making last season's interclub competitions the success they were. SEATOUN CLUB. . Mr. J. Big? declared the season open at Seatoun, when ssome 50 members and their friends were present. -.Reviewing the activities of the club, Mr. Bigg" referred tb the satisfactory position it was in, the probability' of another court being laid .down, and the new. pavilion in course of building. MITCHELLTOWN. There were a large number present at Mitchelltown, where Mr. Trim declared the season open. The club's past activities were regarded as quite satisfactory, while the prospects were bright.
