The' distinction of being the first to do a hole in one shot on the Ranui links —a lucky performance at any timegoes to Mr. L. W. H. Grace, of Mira•r.ar, who acco nplished the feat at the tenth hole at the week-end. The first round of the Ranui presidents trophy, presented by Mr. W. H. lield, M.P., was played in ideal weather conditions, the play resulting as follows :—Dnnbar Sloane won from W. R. Stock, 8.. Bindon won from W J Hook, C. Mexted won from A. I Murray, JD. Dalziell won from W. WhiteJiead, ±t. b. Hirschberg won from N Tingey, H. H. Kood won from B. Irvine J. E, E. Bennett won from J. H. Morton, A. G. Warwick won from A. J. Coleman.
The Ranui championship matches commence next week-end. The* will be classea for seniors (club), juniors, and novices (first : year players).
