DELUGE IN BOMBAY

DELHI, 20th September. • A message from. Bombay cays that though the monsoon ended three weeks ago there was a terrific downpour yesterday, especially between 2 o'clock and 7 o'clock in tl|e afternoon. It resulted in themost serious floods Bombay has experienced for many years. Train, tram, ■and motor traffic was suspended for several hours. Some streets w-ere like rivers, and the principal maidan could be crossed only by boat. Not only wag the railway flooded, but at one local station the water even rose to the level of the platform, which was filled wjth stranded passengers drenched to the skin. The rain somewhat lessened after 7 o'clock, and was followed by a violent gale. A tram was derailed at Victoria, and turned turtle. Many treea were rooted up, and they blocked the road. Hitherto no los 9 of life has been reported, though one man was injured '
