"UNFIT FOR MARRIAGE"

BRIDEGROOM'S FATAL DELU- ' ... SION-

(UNHID PRBSS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN • SEn ZEALAND CABLS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 21st September. A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned at the inquest on Freeman, Mayor of Malton, who fell from a window in the Hotel Cecil the day after he was married. The widow gave evidence that deceased had a dream that he wa6 unfit for married" life. He had been suffering from sleeplessness, and was very, highly strung. When worried his knees gave way, and she had to hold him to prevent him from falling. A waiter at the Hotel Cecil gave evidence that he saw Freeman looking'out o£ the window, resting his whole body oni the sill. Suddenly his body doubled, up, head on chest, and then went over head first. ■ • ■-'•..

■■ Deceased's brother said that his mother and two sisters suffered- from* mental trouble. •

'She' Coroner said it was impossible for anyone to fall accidentally from the win-' dow. Among Freeman's worries was the idea, that he was not physically fit for married 'life, and he had been dwelling on _ this idea with the result that his fears increased, and his nerves' gave' way. Hie bride was sympathetic and considerate, and comforted him, treating tlie matter with great wisdom and consideration. If the poor man had only survived a, few days, he would, doubtless, have lived a happy and useful ljfe, but the fixed idea produced euch depression, and horror that he could nqt be regarded as responsible.
