SOUTH WELLINGTON AND INSTITUTE.
A strong cross-wind considerably spoilt play at Miramar, where South Wellington defeated Institute by i goals to 3 m the Victory Cup competition. It was a last-minute victory, for Institute had the better of the game practically all the way through, though they did not use what litle advantage the wind offered. South Wellington had good combination, but Institute put in some pretty work, which gave South Wellington's goalie some anxious moments.- South Wellington opened the scoring. Half-way through the first spell, Francis coming through on his own and sending in a shot which gave the goalie no chance. Bolt later equalised, and successful shots by Robbins and a penalty by Smith placed the score at 2-all. Keyling added another point to South Wellington's total, and his goal was quickly followed by one from Stocks, making the South Wellington score 4. Shortly before the final whistle, blew, Maddocks, by a fine piece of solo work, netted the ball for Institute, making the score: South Wellington 4, Institute 3. Mr. Ormond controlled the game.
