At a meeting of the School Committees Association it was resolved :—"This association views with disfavour the persistent assuming by the Education Department of functions discharged by the local' governing bodies, and particularly requests the restoration to school committees of their rights as the representatives of the parents to have some option in. the selection of teachers of their children, of which right they are deprived owing to the grading scheme."
