CITY MILK SERVICE
NEW AWARD SOUGHT.
The hearing of the application of the City Council for what would be practically a wholly new award in respect to the staff of the municipal milk supply service was continued yesterday after'"The Post" went to press. The union filed a set of counterclaims asking for increased pay and shorter hours. After considerable discusaionj the union's assessors retired to consider the position, and on the Council resuming submitted the following proposals without prejudice :—Hours in winter, 48 per week, to be worked between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.; in summer, 44 hourß, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; all employees to ■work a six-day week. The only agreement arrived at was .that in regard to holidays. The further consideration of the matters in, dispute was adjourned till- Monday next.
