NEW RATES FROM IST OCTOBER
The new Postal rates to be adopted in New Zealand from Ist October next willbe as follow :— " . ■ - .
"Letters (inland): Id for. the first ounce or v fraction thereof, and for each additional ounce or fraction thereof. "Letters (within British Empire and to certain foreign countries): Id for each ounce or fraction thereof.
"Postcards (inland)': Single, Ad; reply, Id. _ - , ' - .
"Packets (inland): Comprising commercial papers, books, and printed papers,: pattern and sample packets and unregistered magazines: £d for each 2oz or fraction thereof up to 21b, and 2d foreach additional pound or fraction thereof up to 51b. . ;
Magazines (registered) (inland): Each copy not exceeding Boz, Id; each additional Boz or fraction thereof, Id." It will be obaerved that in addition to the very low rate for letters, the rates to be adopted for postcards, inland packets (comprising commercial papers, including tradesmen's accounts,books and printed papers, pattern and sample packets, and unregistered maga-. zines),and registered magazines, also are very low. As regards the rate for printed papers, it k recognised-, states the Government, that the former high rato was responsible for Teduced postings of advertising matter, and the rate will now be Teduced to one halfpenny.
