In the opening stages *of the Da.vis Cup match between W. T. Tilden (America) and J. 0. Anderson (Australia) Played at Forest Hills, the crowd noisily disapproved of a decision giving one point to Tiiaen, and'the demonstration so nettled the American that he lost the first two games in the third! set without scoring a point. He then broke through Anderson's service and won the third game, but Anderson replied by capturing the fourth game on well-directed placements, gaining more confidence and putting more punch into his shots. Anderson took the fifth game off his own service. He then broke through Tilden's delivery in the sixth game to lead o-l. Tilden did not move out of his tracks for several of Anderson's placements,' and the Australian rushed through his own service, winning the- seventh -game and the set-6-1. ...
Anderson took the first game of the fourth Bet. and Tilden the second, the service in each instance being broken Tilden was again back to hig best form, winning the third game on successive placements. Anderson' captured the fourth game with a cyclonic service. Tilden was twice carried to deuce before the American, could win the fifth alnd lead 3-2. Anderson then took the sixth game, evening (he score. Anderson won the seventh game, and Tilden the eighth both on their own service. : Tilden then took the ninth game, but Anderson then made the score 10-all Tilden won the eleventh game on a powerful delivery, and then broke through Anderson's service, taking the set 7-5.
