SENTENCES IMPOSED ON
CULPRITS.

GISBORNE, 3rd September. The Gisborne sitting of the Supreme Court opened to-day, before Mr. Justice Chapman, who said that he was pleased to note that the Grand Jury's duties-were not heavy, there being only one bill to consider. This was in the case of ' Walter Holler, charged with theft from the person. A true bill was returned. A Native named Tongaroa Hona, who had been committed for eentence for indecent assault, received '■ W term of two yers* hard labour.
DUNEDIN, 3rd September, an tha Supreme Court to-day, Elizabeth Violet Gillan, for forgery, was admitted ,to probation for three years. Roland Hill Pelvin, for indecent assault on a male, was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment.
