HOSPITAL NOT THE PLACE FOR THEM., (IX mjaRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, This Day. At the inquest' on Daniel MacNeven, who cut his throat in the hospital on Sunday, the. Medical Superintendent stated that there ; was not sufficient ac- < commodation for the treatment of patients Buffering from incipient or border mental trouble, or for temporary observation of mental cases. Although stringent instructions were issued in regard to such cases, it was impossible to get supervision except in a properly designed ward.
The Coroner, in finding.a verdict of suicide, following extreme mental depression, stated that, the care and attention required could not be given in such cases in a general hospital.
