Little Alice was cuddled up in a big chair near the fireplace, reading aloud to her kitten, which was on her lap. Mother, coming into the room, smiled as she watched the two. "What on earth are you doing, Alice?" she asked. fairy stories to kitty," the little girl replied soberly. "Who over heard of such a thing?" her mother exclaimed.
