RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES

CHRISTCHTJBCH, This Day. .The weather was fine but dull for the training at Riccarton this morning. Fast work was done on the inside trial grass track. Gamecock and Frenchman jumped from the hurdles well. Twinkle and Avispado shaped well, doing six furlongs in Imin 22 2-ssec. Primeira sprinted five furlongs in Imin 6 2-ssec, going nicely. Martulla beat Omahu over a mile, the time for, the last seven furlongs being lmiii 36 l-ssec. Carawock and Blue Socks jumped four hurdles smartly. Carawock was afterwards sent over two brush fences in good style. The three-year-olds Star Ranger and Tig were well matched, and ran six furlongs in Imin 19 i-ssec a smart gallop. Master Peter and Rhoboro schooled better than Bill and Isla Bank, and Orange Bitters was better jn S^y in a similar task. Red Gown, and Falstaff gave a fine showing over five hurdles. Boadicea covered seven furlongs in Imin 33 l-ssec. Jazz, going the last five furlongs did a good gallop, which was bettered by Purple Spur, who held Whipping ' Boy cemfortably, the time being Imin 32sec. V Amour and Tawehi ran six furlongs in Imin 20 3-ssec,' both going well. Contempt and Guncase started for seven furlongs, but the latter's gear slipped, and, Contempt finished alone in Imin 53 4-ssec. Cammie beat Tenterfield and Some Kid over seven furlongs in Imin 33sec. Rowan jumped four hurdles, goine_well. Whipcord and Birkwick shaped well over country, Ranui following alone in good style. Bon Spec did four furlongs in 51sec, going on strongly. General Advance went better than Rouen over four hurdles, and Fitprop did six in 1 mm 18sec. Blue Hall jumped fences well. Woden and Penury Rose were schooled over the hurdles smartly. Oakleigh and Peter Amans worked well on the flat.
