"I don't suppose the member for Nelson has ever been the political guest of the Reform Government, nor yet of the National Government," remarked Mr. H. E. Holland (Buller) in the House of Representatives last night, referring to his own imprisonment some years ago. "If he had, he would never fear that the prisons may be made to resemble the Midland Hotel. Men have no hankering to go there, no more than some men have a hankering to go to Parliament, where associations are not altogether good. (Laughter.) I have never known a man yet who wished to go to prison. No man who has gone to prison for a principle regrets it. I would not cut my prison experience out of my life for a cost. I was fighting for a principle, and I would gladly go through the same experience to-morrow in defence of a principle." '
