BURGLARS AT WORK
SAFE ROBBED AT WHAKATANE.

WHAKATANE,,9th, August. ■The, Whakatane Borough ;-Council Chambers were burglariously entered during the ni}|ht, the strong room blown open and £87 in cash taken. Cheques were left in the cash box. An attempt to open the inside safe failed. The burglars obtained gelignite from the magazine at the council's quarry.
