THE HAYNE CASE
MALE ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY;

, DUNEDIN, 7th August.' At the Supreme* Court this morning, before his Honour Mr. Justice Sim, James Reynolds Ha-yne and Elizabeth Simpson Inglis appeared on charges of procuring abortion on a- young woman on 19th May. There was a charge against Rosini Sarah Macfie of interfering with the principal witness in the Hayne case. The grand jury found a true bill in each case. Accused were represented by Messrs. A. C. Hanlon and B. S. Irwin. Mr. F. B. Adams appeared for the Crown.
The jury,- after a retirement of twentyfive minutes, returned a. verdict of guilty in the case of the male accused, with a recommendation to mercy, and one of not guilty against Tnglis. The' Judge deferred passing sentence until to-morrow morning.
