Damage estimated at £20,000 is reported as the result of a fiVe in Blackall (a small town near Maokay) on Sunday. It was the worst fire in the history of the town, and a number of shops were completely gutted. The progress of the fires was stepped by cutting the verandah posts of the Town Hall, to allow the side verandah to fall and form an iron screen.
