EIGHT HOURS' DAY
FOR AMERICAN STEEL INDUSTRY.

NEW YORK, 3rd August. ... J"d S° Gary, head of the United States bteel Corporation, has announced that the representatives of virtually the entire steel industry of the United States have to-day agreed to begin immediately the elimination of the twelve-hour day. Ihe change will occur as rapidly as conditions permit; Wage rates will also be increased, practically assuring the same wage for eight hours' as twelve.
