The past year has seen several important additions to the Press of Australia. *or many years, as far as daily journalism .is concerned, the staid and dignified organs, whose judgment is tempered by age and tradition, have held the morning field undisputed in Sydney and Melbourne. But the day "has come when sprightly httle challengers are springing up full of heavy type, hair-raising stories, and quips and sallies against the parent papers.
