HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. VV. J. Jordan gave notice to ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that postal employees are absent from duty through sickness, and are losing their salary for such time as they ara absent, and whether he wilt class such absence as special leave on full pay. In reply to Mr. P. Fraser, the Minister of Labour (the Hon. G. J. Anderson) stated that he had received a letter from the Seamen's Union containing a number of 'foolish suggestions and statements with reference to a visit to ships in port, hut he intended to visit theso ships in company with experts of ' # 'io Marine and Health Departments. Tie Leader of the Opposition (Mr. T. M. Wilford) drew the attention of the Prime Minister to a report in the Sydney. "Daily Guardian" that a New Zealand butter bearing a false trade description had been imported into Australia, and had been held up by the Australian Customs authorities for noncompnaiice with the Customs requirements. He asked Mr. Miwsey if lip would ascertain who was exporting such butter, knowing that there is a butter shortage in the Commonwealth, and whether he will see that no one exploits the market afcthe expense of the country.
