A LOADED GUN
THE PRICE OF CARELESSNESS.
(BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
DUNEDIN, This Day. At the inquest on the death of Evelyn Florence Taylor, the victim of the shooting accident, reported on another page, her father stated that lie was generally careful not to leave a live cartridge in his gun, but he must have forgotten it on this occasion, as he was hurrying to work.
Alfred Henry Taylor, aged 11, stated that he picked up the gun for fun, and did not aim at anyone. He pulled the trigger, and his sister moved into the line of fire.
The medical evidence showed that there was a- large wound in the back of the chest and the lungs were lacerated. The Coroner's finding was in accordance ■with the medical evidence. The Coroner drew attention to the danger of leaving loaded weapons about. As far as the boy was concerned, it was a pure misadventure.
