WEATHER PROSPECTS

The weather has been fine in most parts of the Dominion, but the disturbance to the eastward of New Zealand has again brought rain to the East Coast districts between East Cape and Banks Peninsula. This 1 is accounted for by radio messages received from the Chatham Islands stating that the barometer there has been falling. This disturbance is working round the edge of the highpressure system now holding sway in New Zealand. Southerly and easterly "breezes have prevailed, and the pressure has continued very high. The forecast is for fair to cloudy weather generally, overcast at times, with showers on the East Coast districts of both islands. Winds, are likely to be moderate to 'strong easterly, . backing to northerly northward of Hokitika and Lyttelton, northerly elsewhere. The-barometer may be expected to show a falling tendency soon.
