A SCOW'S ADVENTURE

AUCKLAND, 18th: July. Tho scow Omaha dragged her anchor off the Great Barrier in a heavy gale oa Saturday night, and her steering gear was jammed. Thirty tons of firewood was jettisoned. On Sunday, at 5 a.m.. she struck a rock and damaged her centre-board, and then drifted on to a sand-bank. She floated again as soon as the tide rose, and drifted 25 miles. During the night she miraculously entered Omaha Harbour, -without mishap.
