SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
SUFFERING FBOM SICKNESS.
As indicated by a report of the attendance inspector, presented to the Wellington Education Board yesterday, the local schools are feeling the effects of • prevalent sickness among children. The attendance showed a slight improvement on the figures for 29th June, but' there are fewer children attending by 5 per certt." than'is usual at this time of the year. Th« attendance officer was satisfied that more than the. usual amount of sickness was prevalent at the present time. The absentees constitute about IS p-er cent, of the total roll. The figures are as follow, those in parentheses indicating the number of absentees :-^Clyde Quay, 717 (100); Roseneath, 173 (37); Hataitai, 312 (62); Kilbiruie, 445 (SO); Miramar South, 420 (101)'; Worser Bay, 173 (55); Seatouu, 210 (20); Island Bay, 640 (81); Berhanijiore, 551 (56); Brooklyn, 710 (72); South Wellington 766 (99); Nfewtown, 936 (173); Mount Cook. Girls', 235 (29); Mount Cook Infants', 309 (53); Lyall "Bay, 709 (103); Petoiie West, 431 (53); Mobrit Cook Boys', 307 (35); Te Aro Main, 493* (79); Normal, 428 (53); Terrace, 520 (70); Kelbura, 429 (ol).
