GOOD SAMARITAN
AND' A MAN.AMONGST, TJEIEVES.
A compliment to the Hon. C. J. Parr, former Minister of Health, was paid at a deputation to the Prime Minister from nospital boards of the Dominion this morning. The deputation renewed an old-time request for increase in subsidy. '•'We had an excellent Minister of Health,", declared Mr.; M. Fraeer (Taranaki). "but; unfortunately |-'he was. also Minister of Education, and although he was like the Good Samaritan,, and had all the good wishes in the world towards the, hospitals, he met the schoolmaster if 6 H 1?" 1811 pwng down to Jericho." Mr, Fraser: "I know that. WHeri that unfortunate man came amongst us he had neither wine nor oil." (Laughter.) The speaker added that there was a new Minister of Health now, and it was hoped that he would have no other responsibilities. The Prime Minister said he-was not nearly so optimistic about the new Minister. "I think he is the sturdiest beggar I have yet experienced," said Mr. Massey. "Mr. Parr was bad enough from my point of view, but I am inolined to tnmk fair Main Pomare is gain? to be very much worse." . (Laughter.)
