Nations as a protest 1 against-the treatment of Indians in the mandated territories and the Pacific islands., The leaders of the Nationalist' and Labour Parties, who were both former, representatives in the League of Nations,and other members, strongly, opposed the.resolution... They stressed the' usefulness of the League, and : pointed ■ out that recent Labour'legislation in India had-been largely, due to the' efforts^ of the International Labour organisation, which forms part of the machinery of the League. , They considered the. resolution premature and; misconceived, and that the interests of .the coloured 'races were likely to suffer if India withdrew from the League."
