The majority of the through passengers who were on the train which met with the., disastrous accident at Ongarue at dawn, yesterday arrived by special train about 7 o'clock this morning. Most of these passengers left Auckland at 11 o'clock on Thursday night, and wera transferred to another train at the scene of the accident, and again took another tiain which was.awaiting them at Owhanga... Marton was reached about 2 a.m.,.'where a hot meal was in readiness for them. There were 118 passengers on the train. '

Tha ordinary 7.10 p.m. Auckland-Wel-lington express did not run last night. To-day-the Railway Department is running the ■usual 12.45 p.m. WellingtonAuckland express as far as Taumarunui only; This train will reach Taumarunui about midnight. Whether-it will be abla to continue its journey will depend upon ■whether the obstruction at Ongarue has been cleared by the working party which has been busily engaged in removing the slip. At the present time this'is the only slip which is interfering with the traffic

At Owhanga, about fifteen miles south of Taumarunui, where the first slip oc-curred-on Wednesday, a deviation nas been made, and the traffic is being worked as usual at;, this point. Ordinarily no express leaves Auckland for Wellington on Saturdays, so that the next express is duo to leave - Auckland to-morrow night at 7.10 o'clock. •
