CHINESE BAND.
The entertainment to be given at St. Thomas' Hall, Newtown, to-night, in aid of St. Cuthbert's Church, is to be one of contrasts. Modern dancing and singing will be expounded by the pupils of Miss Kathleen O'Brien, and the ancient Eastern idea of these arts will be interpreted by members of a local Chinese opera company. The meeting of East and West will be illustrated by children of the Chinese mission in tableaux representing the work of English doctors in the thickly-populated portions of China. The remaining items on the programme include the Chinese Band and a'pageant by children of St. Mark's School.
A great Protestant service is advertised to. be held in the Town Hall on Sunday afternoon. The"Rev. Howard Elliott will speak on "Protestantism and the Empire " The Rev. J. F. Martin and the Rev.
