T he secretary stated that while at MorrinsviUe on 25th Januari he suggested that Morrinsvillo from tlis number of children there was entitled to a school, and on 6th February an application was forwarded to the Department with tho board's strong recommendation that it be- granted. Th» board telegraphed protesting against the delay in waiting for tho Education Coun, cil meeting, and teu days later tin boaTd members, officers, and senior inspector conferred with th 0 Minister of Education (tho Hon. C. J. Parr) at Auckland concerning the establishment of several district high schools, and Movrinsville was included, The Minister was disinclined to agree until the boari suggested that schools should bo estab liehed for a period of three months, vp 0l the definite assurance of tho board th-it if the average attendance was less thaD 20 the secondary department should auto matically bo closed. The board on 27th February received a memorandum from the Department, dated 23rd February formally authorising the establishiW of the school.
