ATTACKED BY SHARKS
BOAT CAPSIZED AND MEN EATEN.

SYDNEY, 17th June,
A school of sharks rendered vicious by huugev attacked a party of four fishermen in a skiff off Bel'lambi. They nosed in the bottom of the boat, which began to sink, and then turned over, and the four men were thrown into the water. Three of the mon, George Clarke, E. Powell, and Joseph Rigby, were devoured by the monsters. The fourth man, John Butler, after a terrifying experience, hanging for an hour to the upturned boat, was rescued by a passing collier.

According to later details. Rigby, endeavoured to swim ashore, a distance of two miles, for assistance, and was seized by a shark. Tlie remainder chins to llm upturned boat, but Clark and Powell became exhausted und sank. Butler climbed into the boat, which had turned over into its normal position., and, standing waist hi(jh in water, waved his shirt to a collier 'unuliuc; at Wollongong. The collier steamed in his direction', and rescued him.
