DANCED FOR FIFTY HOURS
I Starting at'7.lo p.m. on a recent Saturday, Miss 'Alma Cummings danced continuously until 9.10 p.m. on Monday (according to Reuters New York correspondent in the " Manchester Guardian "). This gives a total of fifty hours, and leaves the previous records for the latest craze— 'idiocy, verging on lunacy," according to a Sunderland Magistrate—very far be- , hind. During her performance Miss Cum;- --; mings left the following " wreckage " .in . her train:—Seven partners, two orchesI tras, two gramophones, hundreds of needle 3, and several pairs of slippers. Miss Cummings said at tho finish thnf she was not tired, but hungry, and could ; havo exceeded the fifty hours had it not . been for a headache, due to the glaring sunshine entering tho ballroom on Monday afternoon. She occasionally ate grape fruit, soup, arid pea-nuts, always when on her toes waltzing, two-stepping, oi tangoing. During the last.six hours she danced with ice-cold towels roundMier head.
