HOMELESS IN LONDON

ADRIFT IN STREETS ON CENSUS NIGHT, The annual census of homeless people in London, taken by the L.C.C. on the night of 23rd February, shows that 126 men and 11 women, as compared with 81 men and 23 women last year, were wandering in the streets, says the "Sunday Pictorial." Only four women were sheltering under arches. Thirteen persons occupied St. Martin's Church, which is open at night. Including people in casual wards, the total homeless population was 14,432, compared with 26,457 in 1904, when the , first census was taken.
