OAMAEU, 25th May. The Oamaru Jockey Club's Winter Meetingopened to-day in fine, cold weather. The attendance and going were good, and the totalisator handled £9582, as against £8938 last year; Results:—

Empire Hurdles Handicap, of 150 soys ; one mile and a half.—General Petain, 12.8, lj Mandrake, 9.8, 2; Ruddy Gold, 9.0, 3. Scratched: Boniform. Won by half a length. Time, 2min 52sec.

Redcastle Welter Handicap, of 125 soys; six furlongs.—Guncase, 8.11, 1; Bloom 8.0, 2; Brown Willie, 8.12, 3. Scratched : Geranial and Blazes, Won by two lengths, • six lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 17 2-ssec.

Oamaru Cup, of 275 soys; one mile.— Angelo, 8.9, 1; Ardour, 7.13, 2; Twinkle, 6.8, 3. Scratched: Mantua, Bosker Boy, Prince Ferouz, and 'Counter Attack. Won by a length, a length between second and third. Time, lmin .44 3-Ssec.

Trial Platßj of 120 soys;. five furlongs.—Geranial 1, Olympia 2, Carpentier 3. Also started: Marconigram, Marmont, Master Sandstone, Overproof, Espada. Won by a length, with two lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 4 3-ssec.

Moeraki Welter, of 160 soys; seven furlongs.—Osterman, 7.9, 1; Carmine, 8.5, 2.; Prince Ferouz, 8.11, 3. Also started : Wharfedalo 8.13, Marching Order 7.11, Miss Camouflage 7.9, Ruena 7.7. Won by half a length, with a length between second and third. Time, lmin 31 l-ssec.
