FIRE AT A SCHOOL

TAUMARUNUI, This Day. At 8 o'clock last night an; outbreak of fire was discovered in the District High School Buildings. The brigade was quickly on the scene, but the flames already had a good hold on the building, which was one of the oldest wooden structures in the town. The fire was subdued after two* hours of strenuous work, but the major portion of the building was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown. The library books, a quantity of stationery and desks, and the science-room equipment were saved. Everything-was in order when the headmaster locked the school at 5 o'clock. The insurances are not available.
