TRAINING COLLEGE
THE ..VICE-ER-INCIPALSHIP.
On behalf" of the New Zealand Wo.nen Teachers/ Association, aib-emphatic protest has been presented, against the way in which the claims of Mills.Hetherington for appointment to the Vice-prin-cipajsbip of the Wellington"- Training College have been- passed .over.. The following are. the grounds of the protest: "(1) That in a teachers',- traindng college where the vice-principal is a man and the majority of the students are women, there is need of a womgirt viceprincipal in the best interests of all the students.
"(2) That in most of the mixed training colleges in England and Scotland, •where the principal is a man, there is a woman co-vice-principal.
"(3) That her attainments and/ proved success in filling important educational positions make Miss Hetherington's claim a strong one. "(3) That it is unfair to use the talents and the services of women teachers, and at the same time to deny them adequate official recognition." The protest is signed by Nellie E. Coad (president New Zealand _ Women Teachers' Association) and Xouise Morgan (hon. secretary, New Zealand Women Teachers' Association).
