PALMERSTON N., Thia Day. The death occurred on Thursday night of a well-known resident of the district, Mrs. Hannay, wife of Mr. Alexander Hannay, aged 40 years. The late Mrs. Hannay was a member of tho Plunket Society and the District Nursing Guild, and was also the leader of the choir in All Saints' Church. She was the fourth daughter of Mr., and Mrs. Alfred Matthews, of Waiorongomai, Featherston, and a sister of Mrs. H. Akers and Mrs. 0. Monrad (Palmerston North), Mrs. G. Stephenson (Dannevirke), Mrs. Willis, and Messrs: Charles,' Harold, and Norman Matthews, of Wairarapa.
Mr. S. E. _ Carson, who is well-known in musical circles, proposes leaving here at the end of the month for Eltham, where he will go info business on his own account.
A parade of the Boy Scout troops of the district was inspected on Thursday night by Brigadier-General Andrew, C.M.G., Dominion Commissioner of the Boy Scout Association. The parade was in charge of Scoutmaster C. E. Whittington. At the' conclusion of the parade the General presented Scoutmistresf Coles and Scoutmaster F. Carpenter with long-service badges, and the Bulls patrol with tho medals won by them at the Caledonian sports in the Scouts' physical drill and relay-racing events.
