GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL

NEED FOR NEW BUILDINGS.

A visit of inspection was paid to thi Gyrls' High School this morning byMessrs. R. M'Keen. M.P., A. L.,Mon^ t,ih, M.P., P. Fraser, M.P., G. Lv Stewart, secretary of the Education Board, and R. \V\ Shallcrass, secretary of the Parents' Association. The visitors were shown over the school and made conversant with the facts concerning the available accommodation in the class rooms and the temporary buildings which have been pressed^ into service to provide room for the pupils.' They were convinced, Mr. Fraser stated afterwards, of the necessity for prompt action on the part of the Education Department to provide suitable and ampl« buildings on the site already selected, on which £5000 has been expended. Their conclusion . was th.-»S . accommodation should be provided for at least 730 pupils, which would indeed only servg lor a few years; anything less would be in the nature of uneconomical patch* work.

The visitors -were much pleased by th» work they saw being done and the evidences of happiness among the girls; and they were greatly obliged, Sir. Fraser said, to Mi»s M'Lean for conducting the party and explaining the position to them.
