Details of the financial operations of the State railways during the year ended 31st March last are published in last night's i'Gazette," and they reveal a more satisfactory state of affairs. Compared with the previous financial year the revenue increased by £84,301, while the expenditure decreased by r-£735>230, a net improvement of £819,531. The revenue for 1922-23 was £6,727,802; and the expenditure £5,502,497, making an. excess of revenue over expenditure of £1,225,305.
