In th» third round of the amateur championship, Tolley beat Marston, the American, 3 up aud 2 to play, alter a notable game. Humphries beat Wright, another American, but Willing, Ouimet, Neville, and Rotari have reached lh» fourth, round, also Wethered, Harris, Lasson, and Harry Braid. A surprise was caused by Douglas Grant, an American resident in Britain, beating Hoidernesa, 2 up and 1 to play.
