LIVERPOOL DOCK CHARGES.
Colonel T. H. Hawkins, who is in New Zealand as representative of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, has received a cable from his principals stating that Liverpool's master porterage rates (i.e., quay porterage) have been reduced by 10 points in the percentage addition. Railway companies have revised their rates as from the Ist May. The total cost on wool loaded direct into railway waggons on the Dock Estate, Liverpool, from ship to Bradford (exclusive of agency fees) will, from Ist June, be 28s Od per ton. The Liverpool Provision Trade Association considers 50 per cent, of New Zealand butter, distributed from London, would be more conveniently handled at Liverpool, as 80 to 90 per cent, of New Zealand butter is consumed in the* district, being railed from London Jo Liverpool.
