"NOTHING INCONSISTENT"

Referring to criticism published in the "Church Gazette" (Auckland Diocese) and reprinted in "The Post" recently, the Minister of Education, the Hon. C. J. Parr, stated to-duy that he wa* surprised that such a publication did not make more sure of its grounds. "It asserted," he said, "that I had taken up the position that the oath of allegiance required from the teachers took precedence and priority over loyalty to one's Maker. No such absurd contention has been laid down by me. My view is that there can be nothing inconsistent or repugnant in x the existing requirements. A man may take an oath, of allegiance to King and country, and at the sanwtime remain loyal to his faith and to his God."
