PRISONERS SENTENCED AT

DUNEDIN.

In the Supreme Court, Ruth Kate Cranefield was found guilty of unlawful use of an instrument, and .vvaß remand^ ed for sentence. Rita Margaret Smith," guilty of arson, was sentenced to reformative detention for the maximum of ten years. A statement showed her to be below normal mentality. Leslie Hunderson Craeford, for indecent assault on a female, was admitted to probation for five years. Albert George Alexander, breaking, entering, and theft, was ordered reformative detention for three years. Fulford Benjamin Underhill, theft of bracelets from a ship, was ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for two years. The Crown Prosecutor mentioned that inquiries were being made in Auckland concerning a theft from the same ship there, and prisoner was Thomas Aaron Hughes (17), theft as postal officer, was admitted to probation for three years. The Judge remarked that he took this course because of the youth of accused. Francis Paranthuie, for breach of his probation, was reinstated in probation for a term of three years. Albert Edward Blundell, for bigamy, was fined £35.
