WADESTOWN GARDEN SOCIETY

The annual meeting and chrysanthemam show of the Wadestown Cottage Garden and Beautifying Society was held in St. Luke's Schoolroom ihis week. Despite inclement weather there was a large attendance and a splendid show of blooms. The various prizes were awarded as follow:—6 blooms, any variety, Mr. Prince 1, Mrs. Watkins 2; 6 sprays, double, Mrs. Watkins 1, Mrs. Barclay 2; 6 sprays, single, Mr. Prince 1, Mrs. Watkins 2.

The annual report stated that the society was jn a very flourishing state, the financial membership having increased from 94 to 149 during the year. The society undertook the making of arrangements for the supply of manures and lime—eight tons of the latter being distributed. Attention had been given to the establishment of a schools' section, and further efforts are to be made in this direction. The City Council intimated that the proposal to establish a rock garden at, the tram terminus was to be considered in the estimates for the coming year. Miss Crawford, Mesdames. Niven, "Parlane, and Simpson; auditor, Mr« B. S. Withers; trustee, Mr. E. Cook; treasurer, Mr. R. G. Dixon; secretary, Mr. F. T. Clere; assistant-secretary, Mr. A. Parians.
